JIS G3444 Scaffolding Tube Enquiries
Complete a JIS G3444 tube enquiry with the selected grade, agreed edition, manufacturing condition and actual dimensions. The product's structural scope includes scaffolding, while the exact coupler and assembled arrangement still require their own acceptance.
Review specification decisionsA standard that includes scaffolding in its scope does not approve every tube/coupler combination or assign a project working load.

What the enquiry has to identify
- Agreed editionThe JIS G3444 edition the order is placed against.
- Selected gradeThe grade the project has approved, not a default.
- Manufacturing conditionHow the tube is made and the condition it is delivered in.
- Coating routeWhat protection the delivered tube carries, and to what basis.
- Actual dimensionsOD, wall and length with the tolerance basis governing acceptance.
- Component acceptanceThe exact coupler and the project's release of the combination.
Selection logic
Decide whether this is the right scaffolding tube route
Three situations decide whether a JIS G3444 requirement fits as written. Each turns on the same question: is the product fully specified, or is the standard reference standing in for it?
| Decision | Why it matters here | Before you enquire |
|---|---|---|
| JIS reference only | Several product decisions remain open. | Select grade, manufacture and section. |
| Coated product | Coating route needs its applicable requirements. | Identify the actual delivered protection. |
| Different interface | A structural scope is not compatibility approval. | Check exact coupler instructions and project acceptance. |
What a reviewable enquiry carries
The set the commercial department needs before an offer can be reviewed against a stated purchase basis. A missing item is a question returned, not a default applied.
- The agreed JIS G3444 edition and the grade the project has selected.
- The manufacturing condition and the condition the tube is delivered in.
- The coating route, with the requirements that govern it.
- The actual outside diameter, wall and length with their tolerance basis.
- The exact coupler make and model, and the basis on which compatibility is claimed.
- The project's component and interface acceptance for the actual combination.

Supplier information. Product standard referenced: JIS G3444 (Japanese Industrial Standards Committee), published preview reviewed 16 October 2026 — JSA JIS G3444:2021 public preview
A standard that includes scaffolding in its scope does not approve every tube/coupler combination or assign a project working load. No grade value, tolerance figure, property table or coating clause is published on this page: those come from the edition the project has adopted and have to be evidenced against the section actually supplied.
Acceptance basis
Put the acceptance basis on the order
A standard that includes scaffolding in its scope does not approve every tube/coupler combination or assign a project working load.
| Specification decision | Applicability and limit | Evidence to request | RFQ action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard and grade | The series reference does not select the complete product. | Agreed edition, grade and manufacture. | Record the actual product requirements. |
| Dimensions | Nominal conventions do not establish physical fit. | Actual OD, wall, length and tolerance schedule. | Compare the supplied section with the approved interface. |
| Coating and use | Material, protection and scaffold acceptance are distinct. | Applicable coating evidence and component release. | Agree all three scopes before purchase. |
Material and acceptance
Documents that support jis g3444 scaffolding tube enquiries
Keep grade, manufacture and coating evidence linked to the actual lot. Reconcile original markings with purchasing descriptions and review dimension records before accepting a replacement component.
| Control | What to examine | When and limits | Next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard and grade | Agreed edition, grade and manufacture. | Before material acceptance; confirm feasibility and cost at quotation. | Record the actual product requirements. |
| Dimensions | Actual OD, wall, length and tolerance schedule. | Before material acceptance; confirm feasibility and cost at quotation. | Compare the supplied section with the approved interface. |
| Coating and use | Applicable coating evidence and component release. | Before material acceptance; confirm feasibility and cost at quotation. | Agree all three scopes before purchase. |
| Heat and item identity | Applicable mill records linked to heat/batch markings and packing list. | Before release and again on receipt; a sample certificate is not evidence for the shipped heat. | Request traceability through cutting, bundling and delivery. |
Scaffolding may be in scope; the combination is still not
The published scope expressly includes scaffolding among structural uses. What it does not do is approve a particular tube with a particular coupler, or assign the working load for an arrangement.
Coating is its own requirement
A coated tube carries a protection requirement that is separate from the base product requirement, with its own evidence. The route the tube gets is stated on the order rather than assumed from the standard.
Nominal conventions do not establish fit
A nominal label that reads the same on two offers can describe tubes that present different delivered diameters. The interface is checked against the actual, toleranced section — not against the label.
Heat identity to the delivered item
Mill records have to be linked to the heat or batch markings and reconciled against the packing list. A sample certificate offered for a batch is not evidence for the heat that actually shipped.
What this page does not publish
No certificate, approval, classification, grade value, tolerance figure or coating clause appears on this page, and none is implied by the layout. The public preview does not provide the full grade, tolerance or coating tables.
Applications
Follow the operating duty to the right specification
The approved scaffold design and component specification govern acceptance. These paths address different purchasing decisions; an application label does not approve a material.

Review this applicationApplication questions that change the enquiry
- Which JIS grade has the project actually selected, and against which edition?
- What manufacturing condition does the order require?
- Which coating route applies, and what evidence will be reviewed for it?
- Which coupler make and model is released, and for which tube condition?
- Who accepts the actual tube and coupler combination, and against which drawing?
Answering these before the enquiry is raised is what lets the commercial department respond against a stated purchase basis rather than a default.

Commercial inputs
Compare offers on the same delivered scope
Compare the same grade, section, manufacture and delivered protection. Ask for a written exception schedule where marking conventions or coating routes differ from the order.
Ask for the offered mill and origin, scaffolding tube schedule, quantity basis, processing scope, packing, commercial validity and exclusions. State the Incoterm with its named place and edition, who unloads, and the requested delivery window. Price, availability, production allocation, transport feasibility and dates require written confirmation.
Two offers that name the same standard are not comparable unless they also state the same grade, manufacture, section and coating route — the difference between them is the evidence burden that arrives with the material.

Packing variables
Bundle arrangement, lifting points, marking convention and load-out sequence change the handling operation and therefore the offer. They are captured as inputs so they can be quoted rather than assumed at the port.

Questions
Questions before you place the scaffolding tube order
Four questions that decide whether a JIS G3444 requirement is answerable as written.
Does JIS G3444 automatically mean STK400?
No. The project selects the exact grade.
Is scaffolding within the published scope?
Yes, but that does not approve every component combination.
Can nominal size labels establish fit?
No. Check actual dimensions and manufacturer requirements.
Are all coating clauses reproduced?
No. Use the applicable licensed text and approved order requirements.
Still need the grade or the interface confirmed?
Prepare the specification so the commercial department can respond against what you have stated, rather than answering a standard reference on its own.
