A standard defines manufacturing and testing rules; a grade defines chemistry and mechanical minimums; the section designation defines geometry. No value here is invented — each is confirmed against the governing standard, MTC or project specification.

The EN 10025-2 row lists the S235, S275 and S355 families; the individual subgrades differ in impact and delivery condition, so specify the exact one. Detail pages for S235JR and S275JR set out those requirements. Grades and standards are not automatically equivalent across systems — the governing project specification decides which applies.
Section supply is governed by the standard as much as the grade: ASTM A6 structural shapes sets the permissible dimensional variation for rolled shapes, while JIS G3101 structural steel applies to the SS400 and SS490 sections listed above.

How do I choose the right structural section for the loads?

What is the difference between a grade and a standard?
