Standard family

UC sections are specified against the hot-rolled structural steel section standards — the same document family used for beams (UB) and channels in a frame. The designation comes from the standing section list, not a custom profile.

Fixed series

Each UC designation carries a fixed set of section dimensions and a nominal mass per metre. Tolerances on dimensions and mass are controlled in production against the mill-run sectional properties.

Verification

Because the series is standardised, verification comes from the mill certificate against the section standard — the depth, flange width and linear mass are checked, not re-derived from a drawing.
